Akhyad Idigov was born into a family of teachers in 1948. He studied at the Oil Institute in Grozny and worked as a construction engineer for the management of a Soviet oil company. Since 1991 he has been a Member of the Chechen Parliament, from 1993 to 1997 as its Speaker and from 1997 as Chairman of its International Relations Committee. Since 2000 Akhyad Idigov has been living in Paris, France. He is married and has four children.
