Memorial Suspendends Activities in Chechnya
The Russian human rights organization “Memorial” decided to suspend their activities in Chechnya.
Radio Liberty reports that Oleg Orlov, the Chairman of Memorial has confirmed to suspending their activities in Chechnya with releated to murder of Natalya Estemirova, representative of Grozny branch of Memorial on July 15, 2009. After this decision Chechenya has lost one more independent news source, and now it’s unknown how world community may find current documents of human rigths violations in Chechnya.
