Sanctions against Kadirov’s Russia!
Victoria Poupko, The Chairman of the Boston Group Against Ethnic Cleansing, published a statement and asked to impose sanctions against Kadyrov’s Russia from all leaders of civilized countries and people of civilized world.
The Statement of Victoria Poupko:
Sanctions against Kadirov’s Russia!
To all Leaders of civilized countries, to people of civilized world
Journalist and Human Rights defender #2, after Victor Popkov and Anna Politkovskaya, Natalia Estemirova Kidnapped and killed. The world democracy did nothing to Russia and learned any lesson from the murdering of Victor Popkov, Anna Politkovskaya, Alexander Litvinenko, Stanislav Markelov, and many others, not so prominent. Now, KGB regime is planning to kill one after another ALL Russian Human Rights defenders, slowly submerging the country into a middle age darkness; soon. It can be called ‘Kadyrov’s Russia’, where the kidnapped people are being killed by beating to death with shovel handles, what the wild animal, mutant Ramzan Kadirov–the “Ruler” of Chechnya and soon of the entire Russia- often does by himself. (One can see the J.Chivers’ article in New York Times, of Feb 1, 2009). Kadirov’s “brave” killers did utterly disgusting murder: four men grabbed the woman, forced her into their car, and drove away in a very high speed. Then they killed her (two gunshots: in head and in chest) and threw her body out just near the highway at about 120 miles from her home.
Natalia Estemirova, a single mother of 14-year-old girl, half Chechen, half Russian origin was a member of Chechen branch of all-Russian famous Humanitarian organization ‘Memorial’. In 2000, together with Victor Popkov, who was also killed in Chechnya in 2001, she wrote a big article about so-called “boevics” (rebels), showing that the majority of them had nothing with so-called “terrorists”; they were ordinary local youth, who were forced by the cruel war to bear arms to defend their homes and villages from the Russian invaders.
Since then, Natalia Estemirova relentlessly struggled against murdering, kidnapping and tortures of (mostly in Chechnya) civilians, fully innocent people, who were accused in terrible crimes simply for their support of (President) Maskhadov government, or else were family members, including elderly and children, of the Resistance militants, or their close surrounding.
N.Estemirova investigated the most complicated and cruelest cases of kidnapping and murdering; she scrupulously collected all facts about disappearing people in Chechnya. She was the same courageous as Anna Politkovskaya was. Her last investigation that overwhelmed “the patience” of Kadirov and his men was the case of Maskhud Abdullaev, a very scared case, which could be followed by mass murder of innocents, who have any connection with Maskhud. Estemirova was the first victim. The case is so bizzard and so hellish that it is worth mentioning.
Maskhud Abdullaev, 1987, the son of one of leading militant of Chechen Resistance and member of the underground Government of Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, Supyan Abdullaev, was a student of very famous Cairo Islamic University Al-Ashar. Since 1999, Mashud, then 12-year boy, with his mother and 4 younger siblings fled to Azerbaijan from Russian bombs. To this moment, his mother Sacita Abdullaeva had been divorced with Supyan Abdullaev.
On 27 of May, just a week before the well-known talk of President Obama in this University, addressing to the Muslims of the world, a “present” was made to Obama: a formal raid of Egyptian police, checking the passports and staying registration of the student of North Caucasus, most of them Chechens. It was, as it can be concluded afterwards with one goal: to catch Maskhud Abdullaev. The operation was conducted with careful cooperation with the Russian Embassy in Egypt. Many students were round up; some were deported to Russia, including Maskhud Abdullaev. All students but one were released afterwards. The one was Maskhud Abdullaev. His documents were OK. He applied for extension of his student visa and his staying in Egypt exactly two weeks before the date of expiration, as Egyptian law says. He has a mark about it in his passport.
On June 9, 2009, Maskhud with another student, Ahmed Azimov, in handcuff were brought to the airport for the flight # MS729 Cairo-Moscow. It arrived to Moscow (Domodedovo airport) at 17:25 (Moscow time). A few Russian activists came to Domodedovo to meet him and take them to overnight (Maskhud didn’t have any relative or acquaintance in Moscow). After 22:00 when all passengers, including Ahmed Azimov (who was investigated by KGB agents in the airport) passed by, they start to ask the airport officers, custom officers and other border’s ones about Maskhud. Until midnight they said Maskhud was there and soon would appear at the exit. As he didn’t appear until 2:oo the activists started to ask again. That time they have answer that Maskhud is not there and probably left the airport. It was clearly lie. At 3:00 the officer at the ‘Pass control’ said that Maskhu was not in his list, and suggested that they fill out an official claim about the man’s possible disappearance. A young man disappeared in Russian most secured airport “Domodedovo”.
The next week the disappearance claim was send by Maskhud’s mother to all investigating committee and even to Interpol. Amnesty International and some other organizations also filled out the claim. There was an impression that Maskhud was thrown down from the plane
After ten days of alarming silence, suddenly, Maskhud Abdullaev appeared at the TV show in Grozny “Tochka opory” (The point we stand) He was interviewed in Chechen by TV commentator. He talked about the beautiful Mask in Grozny, that he saw from the window; about freedom of praying; he talked about quietness’ and freedom Chechnya: If you look from the window you can see the people walking at night”; he talked about such pleasant things that many hesitated whether it was Maskhud. He said he came to Chechnya to spend the summer with his friends and see his country that he left in 1999 and never returned afterwards. Then he will go back to Egypt to continue his studies. During the interview, a photo of his father, Supyan Abdullaev broke into the show. Maskhud was asked whether he agree with the activity of his father. Of course, Maskhud said no, and he wants him to return to Chechnya for dialog.
Maskhud said that he was free, not detained. He meets his friends, talks with them. It was an open lie. He obviously was forced to say it, because after his appearance on TV he disappeared again. Actually he never was found, in spite of the sudden interview on TV. Maskhud will be used to force his father to surrender. Nobody has doubts that Maskhud is now detained and likely tortured. But not for information: clear that he doesn’t know anything about his father, but just for amusement and to punish his father and especially his mother.
On Jul3, four days after Interview, the Chechen State (Kadirov’s) website said that Maskhud was meeting with Human Rights officers in Grozny, Nurdi Nukhajiev, the same Man, who nervously said to Natalia Estemirova “Get out of this matter”, when she asked about the situation and whereabouts of Maskhud. He promised to help Maskhud with obtaining the Russian (inner) passport, to defend his rights and even gifted him his book.
This is now the method of “ruling” in Chechnya in Maskhud must be freed, until he is alive. If not the world must put sanctions against ‘Kadirov’s Russia’ as soon as possible. The family of Maskhud must be invited by every European country and US, and accepted by one of them. The life of 4 siblings of Maskhud are in dangers.
