Anna Politkovskaya was Commemorated in Japan
On October 7, 2009, Japan hosted an international conference which was dedicated to 3rd anniversary of murder of Anna Politkovskaya, the most well-known Russian journalist. Sharkhan Gakaev, the representative of “Free Caucasus” Organization was also attended this conference and did a speech.
Sharkhan Gakaev evoluated important activities about human rights issues of Anna Politkovskaya who became a victim of Russian state terrorism.
“Chechen nation will always remember with great gratitude to heroic deeds of Anna Politkovskaya who exposed to numerous war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Russian occupying forces against civilian population of Chechen Republic Ichkeria” said Sharkhan Gakaev. And he added, “The murders of well-known human rights activists and journalists like Anna Politkovskaya or Natalya Estemirova, shows the real face of today’s Russia”.
The other speakers cricitized to actions of Russian occupying authorities in Chechnya. In the end of the international conference, participants was presented a documentary movie dedicated to memory of heroic Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya.
