A Book on Torture in Chechnya to be Published
Mansur Musaev, a former resident of Grozny, has informed the “Kavkaz-Uzel” correspondent that the work is now underway in Germany on a documentary book, describing in details the practice of arrests and torture of detainees in Chechnya.
“We want to present the whole story as ‘view from inside’, everything to be narrated was seen and experienced by myself personally,” Mr Musaev said.
“We hope to stop what happens now in the country. When in Chechnya Russian federal power agents were replaced for local ones, we were happy thinking that now the situation will improve, and local guys would not make some federals did. However, we got mistaken. Subsequently, it became clear that nothing had changed. I’ve passed through torture in different Chechen isolation facilities. The book describes all this in detail – all the torture; but not only that: the whole system, and what it does with the people who get into it,” Mansur Musaev said.
