Chechen Judoist Wins the Silver Medal at European Finals
The Junior European Cup 2010 took place in Berlin, the capital of Germany. More than 450 participants of 31 nations fought for medals. Among them was a Chechen judoist named Vadud Balatkhanov from Finland.
The cup was held between August 14 and 15, 2010. Vadud, the son of famous Chechen painter Vaharsolt Balatkhanov, competed in the 60kg weight class. In his first match he easily defeated his German opponent. Next, he faced a judoist from Israel, who never had a chance. He passed the quarterfinals by defeating an Estonian judoist. In the semi-final, the Chechen faced a Turkish judoist. The Turkish boy could only resist Vadud for 1 minute and 38 seconds. Unfortunately though, during the final match, Vadud Balatkhanov was defeated by a Japanese judoist.
As a result, the Chechen won the silver medal and earned his place as the runner-up at the European finals.
