Appeal to Slovakia
American and European friends of Chechnya have sent an appeal to the Slovakian Minister of Justice, in reference to the extradition of Ali Ibragimov and Anzor Chentilov.
To:
Minister of Justice of the Republic of Slovakia
Ms. Lucia Žitňanská
Dear Ms. Žitňanská,
We are writing to you in reference to the cases of Ali Ibragimov and Anzor Chentilov. It is our strong belief that if sent back to Russia, these two men will face torture and possibly even execution. Based on the history of human rights abuses against Chechens in Russia, we do not believe that the Russian Federation can be trusted when they say that they will give these men a fair trial. We also do not believe that the Russian Federation will keep capital punishment off of the table. These men were soldiers in a war and according to the Geneva Convention; they should not be subject to extradition to the country which they were fighting against in said war. Please do not let this gross violation of international law and potentially, human rights, be carried out.
Sincerely,
Michael Capobianco (America)

Jana Ridvanova (Czech Republic)
