Know Your Neighbor
According to Polish Radio Białystok (Polskie Radio Białystok), Fundacja Ocalenia (Foundation Salvation) organized a meeting between Chechen asylum seekers and residents of the Polish city of Łomża.
A few dozen people attended the event on November 11th. During the event they had a chance to watch Chechen dances, but most importantly they could speak with Chechen refugees face to face. “It is very good to talk face to face. This way, you can recognize the differences and similarities of cultures. The Polish people learn about us and we learned about them,” said Satsita Khumaidova, a member of Fundacja Ocalenia.
The name of the event was “Know your Neighbor”. In accordance with the motto, Polish residents tried to learn about the daily lives of Chechen asylum seekers in Poland as well as in Chechnya. There were also some questions about the current situation in Chechnya.
