Android’s First English-Chechen Dictionary Released

Jarrett Iovine, a linguist specializing in English, Scandinavian languages, and Chechen, is proud to announce the release of a brand new dictionary app called Dosham. This is the first searchable English to Chechen dictionary app for Android devices and includes over 1700 words in the first version 1.0.

Dosham is a simple searchable dictionary app with a basic start screen and a standard search function. This doesn’t mean that the quality of the words is simple though. Vocabulary ranges from basic commonly used words to technical terminologies as well as verbs. Verb conjugations will be in the next updates. In this version’s content has animals, basic words, countries, family, languages, numbers, occupations and professions, weather and grammer terminology.

Those who are interested in the Chechen language or are studying it would find this app extremely useful. When talking to a Chechen person and the learner forgot a word, they can quickly pull out their phone and use their “Dosham” to find what they need. It can also be useful for Chechen native speakers learning English as they will be able to look up an English word and find the meaning in their native language.

“I have always had a fascination for the Chechen language. It’s a unique and beautiful language backed by an incredible culture and lovely people. This is my first app and I thought about making something new and since no other Chechen dictionary existed for the Android, I figured I’d make one myself. It’s in its beginning stages now and my goal is to make this dictionary reach 10,000 words.” – said Jarrett Iovine, developer of Dosham.

This revolutionary app is a simple, but really informative and educational app that is great for all ages and anyone interested in languages, especially Chechen and Caucasian languages.

You need an “Android 1.6” or later and 40 kb free space to run this application. Dosham – Chechen Dictionary for the Android is only $0.99 (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and is available exclusively through the App Store in the Education category.

You may visit the developper’s website by clicking HERE and you may download the application from HERE.
