Chechen Asylum Seekers Detained in Belarus
The press center of the State Border Committee of Belarus has reported that three Chechen asylum seekers were detained by Belarusian border guards while they were trying to cross Belarus-Lithuania border.
According to the news, on May 8, two men and a woman from the Russian occupied Chechen Republic of Ichkeria’s Duba Yurt village were trying to reach a European country to create a new life. However, residents of Bystritsa reported them to Belarusian officials. Shortly after, the asylum seekers were detained by the Smarhoń Border Guards Unit.
