Young Grozny Resident Abducted, Tortured, and Released
Human Rights Center “Memorial” has reported that a resident of Grozny contacted them about the abduction of his son.
According to the press release, Doka Said Akhmatovich Suleymanov reported to the local “Memorial” branch in Grozny that his son Tamerlan Suleymanov, born in 1982, was abducted by a group of Kadyrovites and released on May 11 after enduring beatings and torture.
On May 9, Tamerlan Suleymanov went to “Mustang” auto-service on Kirov Street in Grozny’s Oktyabrovsky district, where he works. At around 11:30am, armed men in black military camouflages (black uniforms are being used by the Akhmed-Haji Kadyrov OMON unit) came there and asked for Tamerlan. When Tamerlan got out near them, he was beaten. His colleagues tried to intervene but the Kadyrovites beat them too. They took the unconscious Tamerlan into a Lada-Priora car with the plate number 91AA (5th region) and left the scene. Another Lada-Priora with the plate number E423EE (95th region) escorted them.
Tamerlan Suleymanov was taken to the ROVD in the Staropromyslovsky district. They tortured him and demanded that he confess to preparing an attack for the opening ceremony of the sports complex. However, he was later released on May 11. His relatives and friends say that Tamerlan has been working in the same place for more than 5 years and has never broken the law. However, until 2005, he was repeatedly abducted by Russian invaders and their local collaborators. He was also tortured and it was demanded that he confess to various illegal acts.
“But they were not successful. We have searched for him everywhere, but couldn’t find him. A few days later, he appeared near the house with signs of torture. He didn’t know where he was all that time,” said the relatives.
It is also known that another young man whose name is Islam was abducted in early May (highly possible on May 5). Islam was Tamerlan’s neighbor and they attended school together. Thus, Tamerlan’s relatives believe that it could be related to his abduction. There is no other information about this young man named Islam.
