Chechen Athletes: May 2011 Review
During May of 2011, Chechen athletes participated in competitions and achieved good results in wrestling in different parts of Europe.
On May 7, the city of Landgraf in the Netherland’s hosted the 26th border tournament in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. This year 92 athletes from 34 sports club in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France competed.

From May 6-8, the French city of Rosny-sous-Bois hosted the Junior Wrestling Championship of France in both Greco-Roman and freestyle. Around 20 Chechen athletes participated in the championship.

On May 15, Landgraf hosted an international tournament for teenagers. More than 60 athletes from nine sports clubs from three European countries, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany participated in the tournament.

Liza Makayeva, the only female Chechen wrestler in the tournament her weight class, which was 53 kg, won the golden medal.
On May 21-22, the village of Lidice, within the Czech Republic hosted a major international Greco-Roman wrestling tournament. More than 320 athletes participated in the event. Chechen athletes who fought for the Belgian Verviers Sports Club, under the management of Chechen coaches Aslan Albakov and Marat Dzeytov managed to win five gold, two silver and two bronze medals. They also placed third among clubs.
