Two Chechen Asylum Seekers Arrested in Belarus
The State Border Committee of Belarus reported that two Chechen asylum seekers have been detained in Belarus.
According to the report, on October 7, Belarusian border guards arrested two Chechens, one of them born in 1973, near Nepli, which is 15 kms from the center of Brest. In a premilinary trial, it was found that the Chechens were trying to run from the Russian occupied Chechen Republic of Ichkeria to France via Belarus and Poland. The border guards found 550 Euro, 241,300 Russian rubles and 300 Polish złoty on the asylum seekers.
The Chechens were detained and sent to a detention center near the border. It was learned that they will be sent back to Russia.
