Appeal to Swedish Government
The Council of Chechen Refugees in Azerbaijan have appealed to the Swedish government as well as human rights defenders on behalf of Emilkhan Sadaev, a Chechen asylum seeker who faces extradition from Sweden to Russia.
Here is the appeal:
The Council of Chechen Refugees in Azerbaijan appeals to all humanitarian organizations and people of goodwill.
Emilkhan Sadaev is a man who wants to be free from tyranny and oppression and seeks to protect himself and his family members from the threat which is posed by Russia in the form of bombs and torture that have killed or disappeared more than 25% of a nation. Today, extrajudical punishments, ruthless torture, and the disappearence of civilians continue.
We ask all who have the power to prevent an act of “sacrifice”, and will stand up for someone else in need. It is simply a preservation of this man’s life, a man who was forced to leave his homeland like many others, only to look for a secure future for themselves, and more importantly, for their children.
