Workshop in Belgium on Waynakh Painters

The non-governmental independent Chechen youth organization “Waynakh European Youth Development Union: WEYDU” organized a workshop focused on Chechen painters.

The event was held in Liege, Belgium in a hall at the University of Liege on May 12 between 13.00 and 18.00. Roughly 30 young Chechens from different cities in Belgium participated in the event. The event aimed to introduce Chechen painters and their work, as well as present talented young Chechens in the Belgian diaspora. The Chechen youths had an opportunity to see the art work of Chechen painters and learned their life stories.

Seda Gubasheva and Madina Khusikhanova, who are Chechen painters in Belgium and Germany, presented their paintings and explained the motivations in their work. During the event, examples of traditional Chechen hospitality were shown. Food and drink were offered to the guests and the young people had an opportunity to meet each other.
