Detainee Dies in a Paddy Wagon
The Russian media has reported that a detained Chechen man has dead in a paddy wagon in Moscow, Russia.
According to the information, Russian police arrested a native of Chechnya, born in 1980 on August 24, as a suspected thief, and on August 28, he died in a paddy wagon while being transported to a detention center in Moscow with two other suspects. Russian authorities claim that he suddenly felt ill, lost consciousness and died before an ambulance arrived. The cause of death is being called cardiovascular failure. However, his relatives claim that he was possibly tortured or treat inhumanely because of his Chechen origin.
Recall that earlier on August 21, the Supreme Court of Komi confirmed that the conditions of paddy wagons violate human rights.
