Invitation for Presentation of a New Book in Belgium
Local sources have reported that Chechen surgeon Albert Magomedov is going to introduce his new novel on October 24 in Belgium.
According to the information, Albert Magomedov, born in 1952, Chechen doctor, surgeon, pathologist, poet, writer and painter, had forced to leave from his homeland the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in 2000 due to the bloody Russian military occupation. Since then, he lives in the city of Maaseik, Belgium. His new novel book in Dutch language, “The Law of Meaning of Things, What If You’re One in a Foreign Country” (De Wet van de Betekenis der Dingen, Wat Als Je Niemand Bent in Een Vreemd Land) is recently published. The book is about his own experiences as a refugee on the reception in Belgium, the fight against the administration, the frustration, the powerlessness and crumbling self-image of an intellectual who is sentenced to do nothing or to be mindless labor. The book is mainly about the loss of grip, social standing and himself. The book isn’t a listing of events, but a real literary work which the author graces the facts, emotions, and philosophy mixed with each other.
On October 24, 2012, at 08.00pm, an introduction event will be realize in the library of Maaseik city. The admission is free, but for signing up the event, you must get in touch with the library via their telephone number: 089.567.764 or their e-mail: maaseik@bibliotheek.be
