Chechen Family Faces Extradition from Belgium
“La Nouvelle Gazette” has reported that a Chechen family, which includes three children, is facing the threat of extradition from Belgium to Russia.
According to the information, Aslan Tasuev and his wife Zina Tasueva left the Russian occupied Chechen Republic of Ichkeria around 4 years ago and arrived in Belgium. The family asked for asylum, but recently their application was rejected and the family was notified that they would be expelled from their home on February 18, at which time they will be sent back to Russia.
According to friends of the Tasuev family, they have become well integrated into Belgian society. The family has three children -Imran, Zeyna, and Alina- all of which are students. Moreover, the family’s eldest son, Imran will take an exam for the CEB (Le certificat d’étude de base) in four months.
For the moment, the Tasuev family is hosted by their friends, but they may face extradition at anytime.
