Dudaev Remembered in Europe
Local sources have reported that events were held in memory of the first Chechen president, Dzhokhar Dudaev in Turkey, Georgia, France and Finland.
On the 17th anniversary of the death of the first President of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, Dzhokhar Dudaev was not forgotten by the Chechen diasporas of Europe.
On April 21, in the city of Kahramanmaras, Turkey, where a large number of old Chechen diaspora members live, a memorial event was held at the Kahramanmaras Caucasian-Chechen Culture and Solidarity Association. Alongside Chechen diaspora representatives in Kahramanmaras were many Chechens from neighboring cities, who attended the event.
In Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia, a group of young Chechens and Georgian citizens gathered in front of the Georgian Parliamentary building to remind them of Russia’s crimes and to condemn them once again. The protesters held photos of Dzhokhar Dudaev, as well as Ichkerian and Georgian flags.
In the center of Helsinki, Finland, a group of Chechen refugees gathered. The protesters held the Ichkerian flags and photos of Dudaev, as well as a banners with statements such as “We remember you Dzhokhar!“.
