Polish Man Assaults Chechen Child
Polish media sources have reported that a 23 year old Polish man assaulted an 8 year old Chechen child and threatened his mother.
According to the information, on June 21, on the outskirts of Białystok, Poland, a Chechen mother sent her 8 year old son to the market to buy milk. After a while, she heard him crying and when she looked out the window, she saw that her son was laying on the ground, crying and a grown man was standing behind him. The Chechen mother immediately ran out, took her child and tried to hide in the apartment. The attacker followed them, but he couldn’t get into the apartment, so he started to yell to them that they must leave the country. Terrified, the Chechen woman couldn’t do anything and because of the language barrier, she couldn’t go to the police. A few days after, her husband returned from abroad and on June 25, the 45 year old Chechen man filed a complaint about the assault. On the same day, Polish police arrested the assailant, 23 year old Martin S.
Martin S was brought in front of the Prosecutor’s Office in Białystok. During the hearing, investigators explained that the small Chechen child was struck on his cheek and several other points on his body, thus he has a few injuries and bruises. The district prosecutor accepted that the incident was motivated by racism, but they couldn’t find any relationship between the assailant and skinheads in the city. The prosecutor filed a court application together with three months pre-trial detention.
