Turkey Covers Up Another Chechen Assassination!
The Turkey based civic organization “Caucasus Forum” has reported that Turkish authorities tried to conceal the assassination of the Honorary Consul of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, Medet Unlu.
According to the words of Unlu family’s lawyer Ali Ihsan Kazak, Turkish police have already collected all the evidence related to the assasination of Medet Unlu, however, the court file isn’t complete yet even though it has already been two months since the murder. He claims that the day after the assassination, Turkish police arrested an ethnic Chechen, Ruslan Hesbulatov, in the Istanbul Ataturk Airport, interestingly after three hours interrogation they released him, even though he is believed to be the instigator of the murder. Police refuse to explain their actions. Mr Kazak says that Turkish police have tangible evidence that Ruslan Hesbulatov made contact a number of times with the alleged Turkish hit man Murat Aluch before the assassination.
Earlier, some Turkish media sources had reported that Murat Aluch left Turkey after the murder, however, Mr Kazak says that the alleged hit man never left Turkey. According to his sources inside of the Turkish police organization, sometime earlier Turkish police determined the place where he was hiding, but just before the operation, police got a phone call and they canceled the operation and didn’t arrest him.
The mourning Unlu family is concerned with these developments and they believe that the Turkish government will keep this case unsolved as they did for the previous 8 assassinations of Chechens in Turkey.
Medet Unlu’s wife Leyla Unlu said that their grief is doubled after seeing that Turkish authorities protect both the instigators and the hit man.
