Special Premiere of “The Search” for the Ichkeria Government
The Search, Oscar winner Michel Hazanavicius’s latest film about war and occupation in Chechnya, was presented to government of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria at a special premiere in Paris.
The premiere on November 24, was organized specially for the government of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria. The Ichkeria government participated to this event in their honor by a delegation of ministers and representatives leading by Prime Minister Mr Akhmed Zakayev. The Search’s director Michel Hazanavicius, and its leading actress Bérénice Bejo and, as well as the film’s small Chechen star Abdul Khalim Mamutsiev participated to the special premiere along with film crew and producers.
After screening the film, Mr Prime Minister made a short speech, he congratulated to the film crew and presented his gratefulness in the name of Chechen people. Mr Zakayev pointed out that it is the first full-length film that transmits the reality about war in Chechnya and silence of international community. Later on, Mr Zakayev presented decision of the Cabinet of Ministers on granting citizenships for Mr Hazanavicious and Mrs Bejo; and delivered their Ichkeria passports. Then Minister of Sports Mr Ruslan Takhayev presented traditional Chechen costumes and hat, as well as the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria flags, t-shirts.
