Young Chechen Wrestler Became European Champion

Tourpal Kairbekov, a 14 years old Chechen living in France, won the golden medal in the 15th International Freestyle Wrestling Tournament in Chiavari, Italy.

The international tournament was held in Chiavari city of Italy on July 11-12, and was attended by approximately 150 competitors representing various weight classes from different clubs in Italy, Germany, France, Swiss and Ukraine.

Our fellow citizen Tourpal Kairbekov participated to the tournament in the name of a French team, “Grenoble Olympique Lutte” and wrestled in the 60 kilos weight category under 14 class.

In the first tour, Tourpal Kairbekov matched with David Walecki from Germany, and he defeated his rival with a clear score 6-0. Then he faced with Andrea Giordanella from Italy, and Tourpal beated him with 10-2. On the semi-final, young Chechen’s rival was an Ukranian, Artur Agafonov, but Tourpal didn’t give any chance him and moved himself to final with 4-0. On final game, Tourpal Kairbekov was on the mats against Italian Aldo De Vito. Our compatriot showed his best skills and defeated his rival with 4-2.

With these results, Tourpal Kairbekov became the European Champion in the 60 kilos weight under 14 class category.
