The 9-year old Adam Daghestani, an ethnic Chechen, once again defeated all his opponents and became champion of the Timber Creek Wrestling Tournament in the United States.<\/p>\n

On January 30, 2011, the town of Erial, New Jersey hosted the Timber Creek Wrestling Tournament. Among the participants was a Chechen wrestler named Adam Daghestani. Adam wrestled in the 70 pound (32 kgs) Folkstyle class between juniors. He did not give his opponents any chance to win. In the final match, he overwhelmed his strong rival with a dominating score of 7-1. As a result of that win, we earned the gold medal.<\/p>\n

Who is Adam Daghestani?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Adam Daghestani was born in 2001 to a Jordanian-Chechen father and a Chechen mother from Grozny. He got an early start as he began to wrestle when he was just 6-years old. Adam competes in the Folkstyle class of wrestling, which is most popular style of wrestling here in the USA. It is similar to Freestyle, but with a few different rules.<\/p>\n

Just two months after he started wrestling, Adam participated in his first tournament and finished 1st, beating others who had been wrestling longer than him. His coaches then advised him to continue wrestling and encouraged his aggressive style. Since then, he has been wrestling in various tournaments.<\/p>\n

\"\"So far, he has taken first place in 18 wrestling tournaments and 2nd place in 15 tournaments. He also finished third in a number of tournaments. In the tournaments which he took First Place, he won 51 matches and lost 0. During the summer of 2009, he took part in New Jersey’s summer wrestling championship, called “The Great 8.” In the unique style of tournament, wrestlers have to compete almost every week throughout the summer in different places, and the one with the most wins becomes the champion. Adam won that event in 2009, and then again last summer as well. During those two competitions, he defeated many excellent wrestlers, including a state champion. There are normally two types of tournaments for kids: (1) mid-level experience category and (2) highly experienced category. Adam only wrestles in the highly experienced category, so he only wrestles the best.<\/p>\n

Adam and his family currently live in New Jersey, within the United States. New Jersey is one of the toughest wrestling states in the USA and this works out good for Adam because he has to work extra hard and gets better as he beats the best to win major championships. Also, his team is very good and he finds the chance to practice a lot with bigger and older wrestlers.<\/p>\n

Adam’s father, Shamil Daghestani says that they all speak the Chechen language at home and live according to our Chechen customs and traditions.<\/p>\n
