Norwegian immigration authorities are to send a family of five and their New Year\u2019s baby girl back to Chechnya, reports say.<\/p>\n
Ozdoeva Liza gave birth to her and father Mezhiev Alkhazur\u2019s some 8.9-pound (4.04 kilograms) daughter Madina in hospital in southern Norway\u2019s Kristiansand in the first hours of 2013.<\/p>\n
Madina has three older sisters, aged six, four, and two and a half, regional paper Fedrelandsvennen reports.<\/p>\n
According to Ozdoeva Liza, the six-year-old already goes to school, with the other two in day care. Immigration authorities have rejected the family\u2019s residency application appeal.<\/p>\n
She tells the paper her husband joined her in Norway about seven years ago after they had paid the [pro-Russian] Chechen regime a ransom for his release. He had fought against them in two wars, she adds.<\/p>\n
\u201cChechens are sent back on a daily basis now\u201d, says Ozdoeva Liza, \u201cWe fear it isn\u2019t safe for my husband to return home to Chechnya.\u201d<\/p>\n
At the same time, she remains optimistic immigration authorities may perhaps change their mind, even though the family has had their bags packed ready in case police come to collect them.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope we\u2019ll be given the opportunity to stay and that we won\u2019t be sent out of Norway straight away. I hope Madina will be able to grow up here,\u201d Ozdoeva Liza concludes.<\/p>\n
