I got to know Medet Unlu in the early 1980s when I was a student in Bursa\u2026<\/p>\n
None of us were aware of the Chechen phenomenon and Medet was always talking about Chechens.<\/p>\n
He was staring to the sky and always talking about big things.<\/p>\n
Years later, when the Chechen struggle started in the Caucasus mountains, I was immediately reminded of Medet.<\/p>\n
As a matter of fact, Medet appeared in the field.<\/p>\n
He rushed in like an eagle:<\/p>\n
On television, he expressed the Chechen struggle, and translated the famous Chechen hymn, which finishes with \u201cLa ilahe illallah\u201d into Turkish, as well as organizing various events to support the Chechen struggle.<\/p>\n
He has became the most important name in the Chechen struggle in Turkey\u2026<\/p>\n
Lately, he was fulfulling the mission of Honorary Consul of the Chechen Repuplic of Ichkeria in Turkey.<\/p>\n
I received the sad news from our mutual friend, Cengiz Er who leads \u201cA Haber\u201d.<\/p>\n
Cengiz summarized the incident in three words:<\/p>\n
“They shot Medet”.<\/p>\n
I looked at the details immediately:<\/p>\n
They knocked on his door as he was preparing to pray in his office. When he opened the door, they shot him a few times with a silenced gun at close range.<\/p>\n
News websites are giving this incident the title of “Mystery Murder”\u2026<\/p>\n
The murder might be a mystery, but there is something which isn\u2019t a mystery:<\/p>\n
Medet became Shaheed.<\/p>\n
Medet was sick with his cause\u2026<\/p>\n
He never gave up his loyalty to his cause.<\/p>\n
He paid for his loyalty with his life.<\/p>\n
We ask for the establishment of the assasin or assasins, and to be enlightened of this dirty murder.<\/p>\n
