Georgian TV channel, “First Caucasus (Perviy Kavkazsky)<\/a>” will resume its satellite broadcasts on January 25, 2011 at 6:00pm, under a new name, “First Caucasus News (Perviy Informatsionniy Kavkazsky – PIK).”<\/p>\n

According to the information we have received, the Georgian government has transferred broadcast rights of “First Caucasus TV” to a private company, which was founded by former journalists from BBC\u2019s Russian language service.<\/p>\n

“PIK will be on the cable Networks of Georgia as the third national channel, but also broadcast via satellite platform to Russia and the Caucasus,” said Ekaterina Kotrikadze, one of the founders of the channel.<\/p>\n

The TV channel PIK was placed on the Euro-French satellite Eutelsat-Hotbird. Since November 23rd, 2010, the channel has continued its test broadcasts with music videos. For the satellite Hotbird 13.0\u00b0E (Transponder: 65, Frequency: 12015 MHz, Polarization: linear horizontal (H), Symbol rate: 27500 msps, FEC: 3\/4). The PIK broadcast will also be available on its website at http:\/\/www.pik.tv<\/a><\/p>\n

Alla Dudaeva, the widow of our first President Dzhoxar Dudaev, will continue her TV program “Caucasian Portreit<\/a>” on the new channel.<\/p>\n

Recall that PIK is the successor channel of “First Caucasus TV” which was created in 2009 as Georgia\u2019s satellite TV channel<\/a> in the Russian language and its satellite broadcasts were closed by the French operator Eutelsat due to Russian pressure<\/a>.<\/p>\n
