Human Rights Center “Memorial” has reported that a press-conference and presentation of a documentary movie about the murder of Chechen human rights activist Natalya Estemirova will take place.<\/p>\n
According to the press release, on July 14, a press-conference, “First Results of the Independent Investigation of Natalya Estemirova’s Murder” will take place at the Independent Press-center (Moscow, Prechistenka str., 17\/9, floor 1, entrance from the Barykovskiy lane) at 12:00 local time. The investigation is conducted by the Russian newspaper “Novaya Gazeta”, International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and Human Rights Center \u201cMemorial\u201d. The participants of the conference will be Oleg Orlov, chairman of the board of the “Memorial”; Alexander Cherkasov, member of the board of the “Memorial”; Svetlana Gannushkina, member of the board of the “Memorial”; and Roman Karpinsky, lawyer of Natalya Estemirova’s family.<\/p>\n
On July 15, a commemoration meeting of Natalya Estemirova will take place at 06.00pm local time in the new building of “Memorial” (Moscow, Karetny ryad). The documentary “Who Killed Natasha?” (France, 65 min) will be presented first time in Russia. The film will be also shown in regional offices of “Memorial”. The discussion will take place after the film. This film is made by French journalist Mylene Sauloy and produced with French television. It researches the reasons for killing a journalist and human rights activist Natalya Estemirova and the whole system of violence against those who speaks openly about human rights abuses in Chechnya. The pickup took place in Grozny, Moscow, St.Petersburg and London. First time it was shown at the International film festival and Human Rights Forum in Geneva in March 2011, where it received a Grand-prix of the World Organization Against Torture.
