Events Related to February 23
Sources close to Waynakh Online have reported that several commemorative events are planned related to the deportation of the entire Chechen-Ingush nation on February 23, 1944.
According to the information, the representation office of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in Austria is going to organize a commemorative event on the 70th Anniversary of Deportation of the Chechen-Ingush people. The event will be held in Vienna on February 22 at 03.00pm at the following address: Wagramerstrasse 52, 1220 Bezirk Wien. (For public transport users: Take train “U-1” to the station “Kargan”, then take “Tram No.25” towards Aspen till the stop “Kagraner Brücke”). Austrian historians Dr Gabriel Anderl and Dr Bert Sharner will participate and present their lectures about the deportation. On the other hand, Chechen Republic of Ichkeria passports will present to their owners with a ceremony.
On February 23, Chechens will gather in the center of Paris to remember the 1944 deportation. The protest meeting will be held at “Place Stravinsky (Centre Pompidou)” (For public transport users: Metro Rambuteau) between 03.00-06.00pm.
