Another Chechen Asylum Seeker Faces Deportation from France
The Montauban office of Education without Borders (Réseau Education Sans Frontières – 82) has reported that a male Chechen asylum seeker is facing deportation from France to Russia.
According to the information, a male Chechen asylum seeker, who has four children, all of which are under 6 years old, was arrested during an identity check and sent to a detention center after failing to produce ID. In two days the governorship of the city of Tarn et Garonne in France scheduled the deportation of the Chechen asylum seeker for October 12. The deportation will take place from the Toulouse Blagnac Airport. About fifteen members of Education without Borders held an urgent protest in front of the airport at 5:00am in an effort to prevent the deportation. A member of the organization said that they received a confirmed report that the deportation did not occur. However, the deportation has only been postponed to Monday morning at 6.00am.
