Austria Postpones the Deportation of Chechen Asylum Seeker
Local sources have reported that Austrian authorities postponed the deportation of Chechen asylum seeker Salman Mamaev to Russia.
According to the information, Salman (Danial) Mamaev resisted being boarded onto the Vienna to Moscow flight and Austrian police were not successful in their attempt to deport him. For this reason, Austrian authorities postponed his deportation until a later date. Mamaev was taken to a detention center in the city of Vienna, Austria.
Susanne Dilp, National Police Director of Vorarlberg, confirmed the postponement but did not share any details. She only explained that the deportation will take place at a later date.
On the other hand, the health of the Chechen asylum seeker’s pregnant wife has gotten worse and she is in the hospital under doctor’s care.
