Maskhadov’s Guard at Risk for Extradition in Sweden
The website Ichkeria.info has reported that Lom Ali Artsuev, a former member of Aslan Maskhadov’s Presidental Guard Unit, is risk for extradition from Sweden.
According to the report, Swedish police arrested Lom Ali Artsuev during his asylum interview. Swedish police claim that there is an actual international arrest warrant for him. If Sweden extradites Lom Ali to Russia, where is no justice, he will face inconceviable torture and/or death.
Let’s recall that Lom Ali Artsuev had been arrested in Dubai in 2009 on the same Interpol arrest warrant. However, after long and strong pressure from the international community, he was released. After his release, he has immediately left there, and arrived in Sweden thinking that democratic values and freedom are priorities there, however, he was arrested once again, as he was asking for political asylum.
Lom Ali Artsaev was born in April 23, 1983. He is married and the father of three children. He served as a soldier in the Presidental Guard Unit of Chechen Republic of Ichkeria’s 3rd President Aslan Maskhadov. After the death of Maskhadov, he moved out of Chechnya in 2004 and started to search for asylum.
