EU Representative visits Pankisi Gorge
EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Peter Semneby visited the Pankisi Gorge in Georgia on January 31.
Peter Semneby became acquainted with the living conditions of Chechen refugees and met with representatives of the local authorities.
Koba Maisuradze, head of the Akhmedi municipality which Pankisi Gorge belongs to, said that four schools are being restored, the problem of drinking water is being resolved and kindergartens have been repaired with UN financial support, in the villages where Chechen refugees live. The central highway has also been restored but some problems still exist.
