Magomed Khazbiev Released
Although sentenced to a ten day administrative prison term, decided by the Ingush court, the well-known Ingush rights activist and his brother were released on the evening of March 26.
According to information which our editorial staff received by e-mail, on March 26, Yunusbek Yevkurov, the head of Ingushetia, met with the parents of Magomed Khazbiev and promised to facilitate the release of the Khazbiev brothers. In the evening, Magomed Khazbiev and his brother, Berd Khazbiev were released.
Recall that, Magomed’s other brother Murad Khazbiev had been released right after the trial on March 24, but Magomed and Berd’s prison location was unknown. For this reason his family had serious concerns about the fates of their sons.
There is no news about the health of the Khazbiev brothers. It is known that Murad Khazbiev had been beaten seriously and he had some bruises on his body, as well as some difficulty walking due to his injures.
Our editors have received a photo via e-mail that shows the brutal operation of Ingush law enforcement officers in the Khazbiev family home. It seems that the Ingush police could not just take their revenge on the family’s men, so they also attacked Magomed’s young niece. The attack on one-year old, Marina has caused psychological trauma. The small girl cannot stay in the room alone and is constantly crying.
