Chechen Asylum Seeker Arrested in Belarus
The State Border Committee of Belarus has reported that a male Chechen asylum seeker was arrested near the border of Belarus and Lithuania.
According to the press release, earlier last weekend, about one kilometer from the border of Belarus and Lithuania, Belarusian border guards arrested a male Chechen asylum seeker who tried to cross the border.
Belarusian authorities claim that there was an international arrest warrant from Russia for the detainee and they are now investigating the issue.
The asylum seeker has been jailed at a detention center but there is no further information about his identity or fate.
