Open Message to OSCE Parliamentary Assembly from Lithuania

The Vilnius city Office of Lithuania Sajudis Movement send an open letter to OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and ask their oppress to Russia for ending occupation of Chechnya.

OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s 18th Annual Session in Lithuania’s capital Vilnius 29 June to 3 July 2009 with the theme “The OSCE: Addressing New Security Challenges”. So Lithuanian freedom movement Sajudis’s Vilnius Office ask OSCE’s help for Chechen nation.

Leonas Keroseryus, The Chairman of the Vilnius Sajudis Office and A.Budryunas, The Secretary of the Vilnius Sajudis Office send a letter to Mr.Joao Soares, The President of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and Mrs.Dora Bakoyannis, The Chairperson of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

They have started to their letter with congraculations for to the session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Vilnius and explained to Chechen Republic Ichkeria is an independent country since September 6th, 1991.

According to letter, Sajudis Vilnus thinks: “Leadership of the Russian Federation and its armed forces carried out devastating attacks on security, democracy, human rights and liberation movements in Europe”.

At the letter, OSCE and world leadership were blamed to doesn’t taken active measures against Russia, which is 15 years in the Chechen conducting genocide.

The damage of the war also explained at the letter: “On December 11, 1994, Russia has launched a massive war against the Chechen people. The Russian army with around 100 thousand soldiers destroy to Chechen heritage, infrastructure, economy and treat genocide crime. The Russian aggression in Chechnya may call as death squads. During the war, Russia has killed about 250 thousand citizens of Chechnya and caused damage estimated at 300 billion U.S. dollars”.

Sajudis Vilnius asked to OSCE Parliamentary Assamby for note the at annual session to the genocide by the Russian Federation in the Chechen Republic Ichkeria, and they asked oppression of OSCE on this topics:

“1. Russian must cease to hostilities in Chechnya, Russian troops must withdraw from terrority of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria and compensate to the damage. Russia must release to more than 20 thousand Chechens who are at the Russian prisons without judgement.
2. Restore the independence of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria.
3. Russia must take into consideration to the Peace Treatment, signed by Presidents Aslan Maskhadov and Boris Yeltsin on 12.05.1997.
4. Provide humanitarian assistance to the Chechen people.
5. We call on world leaders don’t extradite Chechens who are in your countries to Russia.”

Sajudis Vilnius finished to their letter with informing of their activity: “Members of the public organization Sąjudis and other public organizations willbe located near the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania during the session of the OSCE (29 June – 1 July to 8 am) and we will explain about the despotism of Russia in the Chechnya and will request assistance for Chechen nation”.
