According to the website, Ichkeria.info, the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg decided on 14.9.2010 that Ali Ibragimov and Anzor Chentiyev can be extradited to Russia. As it is said in the court decision, “the Russian Federation has given the guarantee of a fair trial and not to apply capital punishment…”

None of the reasons for the protection [of the accused], nor the evidence given by human rights activists, including those from Russia, about the fact that there exists no justice on Russian territory and that citizens of Chechen nationality are subjected to torture and humiliations in the Russian penal colonies and prisons, were recognized.

The Strasbourg law court didn’t find the arguments for the assignment of refugee status substantiated, since the persons allegedly “aren’t subjected to persecution according to ethnic, religious or political reasons”.

Ibragimov and Chentiyev have been in prison in Slovakia since 2006, expecting their transfer to Russia. They had been arrested on demand from the Russian Prosecutor General.

Alla Dudaeva, the widow of Dzhoxar Dudaev, gave a short interview to Georgian tv channel on their situation. She fears that if Ibragimov and Chantive is extradite, then they may be torture in Russian prisons.

“The two are wanted by Russia for simply having taken part in the military defense of their country against the Russian invasion. I.e. they are combatants according to the Geneva Conventions. Not only does Slovakia violate this convention when it extradites combatants to the opposite site in a military conflict, but here we have an international human rights court which is deliberately violating international law. This is a new low in the history of the pathetic European human rights system” told Norbert Strade, the editor of Chechnya-sl group.
