Mamed Khalidov Receives Polish Citizenship
According to the Polish website Onet.pl, world champion in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), 30- year old Chechen, Mamed Khalidov received Polish citizenship on December 21st.
A ceremony was organized for Mamed Khalidov in the city of Olsztyn, Poland. He attended with his wife. He received his citizenship from Województwo Warmińsko-Mazurskie’s (The Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship) head Mariana Podziewskiego.
During the ceremony, the authorities gave him a copy of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland and the Polish flag, in addition to citizenship documents.
“I’ve lived in Olsztyn since 1997. I finished my education here; I created a family and also have friends here. I am not going to change it. Olsztyn is a very beautiful city. However, at least now I can fight for the Polish national team,” said Khalidov after the ceremony.
