Chechen Athletes: July 2011 Report
Throughout July of 2011, Chechen athletes participated in competitions and achieved positive results in wrestling.
From July 2-3, the “18th International Römer Cup” was held in Ladenburg, Germany. Chechen athletes from Belgium’s “Raeren 2006” participated in the games in the Greco-Roman style. More than 300 athletes from 85 sports club in Germany, Belgium, Denmark and Switzerland competed in the tournament. Here are results of the Chechen wrestlers:
Gold Medal: Magomed Saidulaev (11-12 year olds, 25kg), Zapir Yusupov (13-14 year olds, 38kg)
Silver Medal: Ibragim Tabaev (6-8 year olds, 28kg), Salman Aliev (11-12 year olds, 34kg), Abubakar Tutaev (13-14 year olds, 46kg), Islam Saydulaev (13-14 year olds, 54kg)
Bronze Medal: Ramzan Ibragimov
From July 8-10, Azerbaijan’s capital Baku hosted the international wrestling tournament “Golden Grand Prix” which commemorates their national leader, Heydar Aliyev. This year 500 wrestlers from 31 countries participated in the tournament. Chechen wrestler Zelimkhan Khuseynov fought in the Men’s Freestyle 60kg for Azerbaijan’s national team. He defeated all of his opponents and won the gold medal.
