“Welcome Yankee” Wins Prizes in Greece and Turkey
“Welcome Yankee”, a short film about a Chechen refugee couple, was presented at international film festivals in Turkey and Greece; after these successful presentations, the film won two new prizes.
The 7th edition of Thessaloniki’s International Short Film Festival (TISFF) took place from October 20-26, 2013, and “Welcome Yankee” was in the festival alongside hundreds of films from all over the world. This week the award winners were announced and “Welcome Yankee” was selected as the winner of the “Cinematic Achievement Award”.
The film was also presented in Turkey at the Ayvalik International Film Festival which took place on November 17. “Welcome Yankee” won the award for “best director” by the jury.
With these new prizes, “Welcome Yankee” has now won three awards in as many weeks.
