Chechen Children’s Eyes
A poem of well-known Irish poet William Brendan McPhillips, about dirty Russian invasion and Chechen children.
…
.
The sovereignty of death is all too clear
As Chechen children cringe in mortal fear
The nation’s sovereignty will be upheld
Against the death of children, lied to, felled
By bullets, bombs and bloodied macho freaks
Who pose as heroes, bully madness reeks
Of holy water, holy words and lies
Above the rotting flesh and putrid skies.
What history was ever told or read
To justify the slaughter and the dead.
Tomorrow and tomorrow they will rise
As surely as the Sun and Moon, and eyes
Will fill again with anguish for the deed
They did today for sovereignty and greed.
