An Invitation to the Theater Production of Zina’s Story

Staff members from a Polish NGO have created a theater event which tells the stories of Chechen refugees who live in Poland.

The project is coordinated by The Culture Association of Practitioners (Stowarzyszenie Praktykow Kultury) and financed by the Culture Office of the Capital City of Warsaw (Biura Kultury Miasta Stołecznego Warszawy).

According to the NGO’s website, in the show you will find an answer. You will watch the real life stories of specific women. It comes from another perspective that you haven’t seen before; painful, personal and modest in words. Their perspectives are strong, loud and articulate. There is only a single voice. On the television screens and internet forums, you can see the weapons and all of these became the reason for extra judicial judgments, generalizations, prejudices, propaganda and ignorance. But in this scenario, the women are balanced on the edge. In this scenario, the real stories of refugees in Poland who came from Chechnya are used as well as fragments from the books of Zahar Prilepin, “Pathologies (Patologie)” and Petra Procháskova, “Neither Force, Nor War. The Stories of Chechen women are true (Ani życie, ani wojna. Czeczenia oczami kobiet)”. The authors say that the women are heroines but they cannot disclose who they are. The title of the show is “Zina’s Stories” with Zina being the fictional lead character.

The premiere of “Zina’s Stories” will be on October 30, 2010 between 7:00pm and 8:00pm local time in Warsaw’s Centrum Kultury Łowicka (ul. Łowicka 21).

The following shows will be at the Scena Lubelska 30/32 (ul. Lubelska 30/32 Warsaw). On 11/6/2010 at 7:30pm; 11/7/2010 at 4:30pm and at 7:30pm.

The show is free, but if you want to attend, you must reserve a seat. The number for reservations is: +48 517 942 024.
