French Court Decides to Extradite Muslim Deniyev
Earlier we reported the arrest of Muslim Deniyev, a Chechen refugee in France. On April 5, the Court of Appeal in Pau decided to extradite Muslim to Ukraine.
According to information, Ukraine demanded the extradition of Muslim Deniyev due to him being a murder suspect in March of 2010 in Belaya Cerkovy of the Kiev region. The French court agreed to extradite Muslim to Ukraine, even though there is not any acceptable proof.
Muslim Deniyev’s lawyer stated that Muslim’s brother is serving a prison sentence in Russia because he was a freedom fighter in Chechnya against Russian troops. The lawyer and Muslim’s friends believe that if the extradition happens, Ukraine will pass Muslim into the hands of Russia.
At the same time, the Interior Ministry of Ukraine has published a press release on their website stating that the General Prosecutor of Ukraine has sent all the necessary documents for the extradition. Ukrainian media pointed out that French authorities are ready to extradite Muslim.
Recall that Muslim Deniyev was granted political refugee status from France in 2010 and he was living with his wife and three children, one of whom is disabled. Just a short while ago, he applied for citizenship in France.
