Chechen Athletes: April 2011 Review
During April of 2011, Chechen athletes participated in competitions and achieved good results in wrestling, boxing, and gymnastics in different parts of Europe.
From March 31 – April 3, the Austria Boxing Championship for adults was held in Gmunden, Austria. Two Chechen boxers fought for the “Unterberger” sports club of Wörgl. Khamzat Musaev and Arbi Chakaev became the Austrian champions in their categories. However, Khamzat was elected the best boxer of the tournament.
On April 3, a gymnastics competition was held in the resort town of Worriken. Belgium. One hundred and thirty four athletes from 12 sports club participated in the Championship of Eastern Belgium. Three Chechen sisters performed in the competition. In the youngest age group, Eliza Gambulatova came in 4th, scoring 39.95 points, and Ryana Gambulatova came in 9th, scoring 38.00 points. In the middle age group, Karina Gambulatova came in 9th among 74 participants with 39.00 points.
From April 9-10, the German city of Oberforstbach hosted a regional wrestling tournament in free style and Greco-Roman. More than one hundred and forty athletes from 15 various clubs participated in the tournament, with the Chechen wrestlers achieving good results in free-style.

The group for 13-14 year olds:

46kg: Dzhoxar Gambulatov (Golden Medal)
50kg: Rakhman Magomedov (Silver Medal)
58kg: Rakhmin Magomedov (Golden Medal)
63kg: Abdula Gaziev (Golden Medal)
The group for 15-17 year olds:
54kg: Talgat Gaziev (Golden Medal)
58kg: Magomed Said Omarov (Golden Medal) – Ali Khabashov (Bronze Medal)
63kg: Abdula Omarov (Golden Medal) – Adam Dzhambolatov (Silver Medal)
Among the adults, Rizvan Aduev came in second place.
From April 23-24, the city of Utrecht, Netherlands hosted the traditional Easter Wrestling Tournament in the Greco-Roman style, where many Chechen athletes from various European countries were in attendance. This year four hundred and ninety one wrestlers from 63 sports clubs competed in the tournament.

In addition to the champions and prize winners at the tournament, many of our wrestlers could not get on the podium.
