Chechen Dies During a Police Operation in France
Nice-Matin, a regional daily French newspaper reported that during a police operation, a Chechen man died and seven other Chechens were detained in Nice, France by agents from the French intelligence service.
According to the report, the Central Directorate of Internal Intelligence (DCRI) conducted a special operation in Nice at 6:00am on June 7 based on a decision from the commission of an anti-terrorism judge in Paris. The operation was carried out on the third floor of a high-rise apartment at 30 Louis-Braille Boulevard in the Saint-Charles district of the city. During the operation, 6 Chechen men were detained. Two of them panicked because of their traumatic pasts and tried to run away. They jumped from the window and one of them, a 26-year old man, died from his injuries. The second man is slightly injured.
All seven detainees are being kept in detention centers. There is no clear information about the reasons for or results of the police operation.
