Appeal to Human Rights Commissioner of Russia
After reading a publication of Waynakh Online, Said-Emin Ibragimov, head of International Peace and Human Rights Association, has appealed to the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation about the disconcerting situation facing Chechen-Ingush prisoners in Omsk Penal Colony-2.
According to the information, on August 27, Said-Emin Ibragimov wrote a letter to Vladimir Petrovich Lukin, the Human Rights Commissioner of Russia and asked for an immediate investigation into health conditions of Chechen-Ingush prisoners in Omsk Penal Colony-2, as well as the claims of inhumane treatment and torture. He asked in his letter that an independent commission carry out this investigation. He also suggested that the “Memorial” human rights organization, as well as Chechen and Ingush human rights defenders must participate in this commission.
