Chechen Champion Deported from France to Russia

Ilias Demayev, a young Chechen asylum seeker and France’s Jiu Jitsu champion, was deported to Russia and his fate is unknown.

According to local sources, 22 year old Ilias Demayev arrived in France in 2011 and asked for asylum. After his arrival, he integrated himself into the social life and won the title of champion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the category of +76kg in 2013. He soon found a job. However, his asylum demand was rejected in January 2014 and he received notification that he must leave the territory of France. However, his friends started a campaign to help him and in a short time they collected more than 5 thousand support signatures. Everybody was waiting for his trial at the Administrative Court in Rennes on April 24; but strangely the prefecture of La Sarthe finished his residence permit on April 16, and asked police to detain him. He was taken to the police station in Mans, and on April 17, he was deported to Russia.

We must reiterate that before Ilias Demayev, his elder brother was also deported from France, and he had been abducted by armed bandits from pro-Moscow regime in the Russian occupied Chechnya upon his arrival. Kadyrovites broke into their parents’ house twice and asked where Ilias was. In spite of all these realities, France extradited Ilias Demayev into Russia, and since his arrival, there has been no news on his fate.
