Human rights activists belive that the name of behind killing of Chechen activist Natalya Estemirova is Putin’s puppet Ramzan Kadirov.

Oleg Orlov, the chairman of Russian human rights organization “Memorial said Kadirov hated Estemirova and saw her as “a personal enemy. He said”: “Those who killed her don’t want information about what’s going on in Chechnya to be known outside the region. Kadirov has created an atmosphere in which people in Chechnya are kidnapped every day and put into secret prisons. I know who’s behind this killing, who’s to blame. I can give his name and title. It’s Ramzan Kadyrov, president of the Chechen region.” and he explained that puppet Kadirov threat to Estemirova: “Ramzan Kadirov was personally unhappy about what Natalya Estemirova was doing. Ramzan Kadirov personally threatened her, in a private conversation. We were worried to publish a statement about this but now Estemirova killed by him. So i may explain it. Kadirov said her, ‘I have blood on my hands, it’s true, and I’m not ashamed of it. I have killed and will continue to kill bad people.’ And that statement was followed by insults and threats against Estemirova”.

Tanya Lokshina of Human Rights Watch said Estemirova’s work was vital to uncovering abuses in Chechnya. She said Estemirova “was one of the main people who documented the most terrible crimes during the second Chechen war: torture, extrajudicial executions, abductions. She said: “Natalya has until now remained one of the few people who have continued reporting crimes perpetrated by forces controlled by Chechen President Ramzan Kadirov”.

Dmitry Muratov, editor of the crusading “Novaya gazeta” newspaper, said: “I said, ‘Natasha, you should get the hell out of there, immediately. No one is going to help you. They have no limits anymore. You should simply get out of there immediately.’ She said she understood that. There will be two versions of the killing now: one, that it was Kadirov who killed her, and two, that she was killed to frame Kadirov. And everybody will talk about these two versions forever”.

Veteran rights activist Lev Ponomaryov says he welcomes Medvedev’s statements, but doesn’t believe the president can guarantee an objective investigation even if he wants to. Kadirov’s influence in Chechnya “is endless, and I believe he’s one of the suspects. That’s why his desire to head the probe is dangerous for the investigation,” Ponomaryov said.

Leading rights activists said they held Putin and Kadyrov, the man he has repeatedly endorsed, responsible for her killing. “I blame both of them for the killing — for involvement in the killing,” Lyudmila Alexeyeva, head of the Moscow Helsinki Group, told an emotional news conference in Moscow.

On the other hand, Ekho Moskvy radio (Voice of Moscow Radio), meanwhile, reported that a rights activist was detained Thursday and several copies of the rights report blaming Putin and other officials were seized. Igor Kalyapin, head of the Association Against Torture, was detained near the city of Nizhny Novgorod.
