Bulgarian Court Decides to Extradite
The website Daymohk.org has reported that a Bulgarian court decided to extradite disabled Chechen refugee, Akhmed Chataev.
According to the report, on July 1, a hearing was held at a court in Bulgaria’s Haskovo region. The prosecutor demanded the extradition and Chataev’s lawyer insisted that his client could not be extradited because he has refugee status in Austria and earlier, a court in Austria refused an extradition demand from Russia. However, the judge decided to extradite him to Russia. Now, Chataev’s lawyer is going to appeal to a higher court in Plodikov within a week.
It must be noted that Bulgarian authorities have no case against Akhmed Chatayev. Still, they will give in to Russia’s extradition demand which alleges that Chataev sent $12,000 to the mujahedeen in Chechnya.
