Two Documentaries on Chechens Screened in Turkey fest
Two documantaries on Chechens can be watched during Documantarist – Istanbul Documentary Days between June 2-7,2009.
Award-winning “Three rooms of Melancholia”, directed by Finnish filmmaker Pirjo Honkasala, reveals how the 1990s Chechen War has psychologically affected children in Chechnya.
In the other documentary “Grozny Dreaming”, Swiss directors Mario Casella and Fulvio Mariani follow the tour of the Caucasian Chamber Orchestra, consists of several different ethnic members, presenting the musicians’ difficult lives in a region hit by Russian war.
Documentarist 2009 – The Istanbul Documentary Days is being organized by the Eurasia Art Collective between June 2–7. Istanbul will host important documentary makers for the duration of the event.
Documentarist, organized last year for first time, brings together around 50 documentaries from abroad including Chile, Russia, , India and Morocco and 20 films from Turkey. İstanbulites will get the chance to see documentaries that was screened at the most prestigious film festivals, such as Cannes and Venice. Northern European and Finnish filmmakers are another focus at Documentarist 2009 will focus on Northern European Finnish films.
